Useful information

Check before traveling if your phone is compatible with the frequency and technology of the network visited. The frequency bands of the networks can be:

  • GSM-2G 900 MHz, 1800 MHz
  • US 2G mobile 800 MHz and 1900 MHz,

  • 4G or LTE.

Multi-mode devices support various technologies such as CDMA, TDMA or iDEN depending on the model.

b)  See as the Vodacom has a roaming agreement in the country you are visiting and what are the services that Vodacom offers on their networks

c) Verify that you have unblocked roaming and / or roaming data on your device.

Controlling roaming costs in general:

  • If you are in a country where Vodacom has agreements such as Africa Roaming or the Vodafone group manually choose the preferred network
  • In the Africa Roaming and Vodafone group networks that have available offers they use the same to save even more.
  • Welcome message lets you calculate your costs, use phone apps to calculate your minutes, SMS, and Megabytes

How to control data usage:

Vodacom offers the following tips to keep your data consumption predictable:

- Avoid uploading and downloading music, photos, and movies

- Turn off your facebook and other apps you do not need

- Activates Data roaming option "OFF" and only switches on when you need it

- Uses Wi-Fi instead of 3G / GPRS / EDGE

- Turn on Get New Data "OFF"

- Resets the use tracker to 0 to 10 MB to control its use in real time.
